Strengthlifting as a game was established in India in the year 1985 in West Bengal, Kolkata. The Indian Strengthlifting Federation framed the first Rules and Regulations for Strengthlifting and later on by World Strengthlifting Federation.

The first National Strengthlifting Championship was held in Kolkata, West Bengal in the year 1986.

 

India is known to be the most popular country to host and play Strengthlifting as a sport. The game is affiliated with 29 states in India and many countries all over the world.
